Gameday for Your 3-0 FIU Panthers

Posted 9/24/2011 9:14:00 AM
It's been a while. . . Many have asked what happened to the blog, it's still here! I have been concentrating on trying to get the weekly podcast together.

The Panthers have "reeled off" 3 straight wins so far and are now 3-0! A big win in front of a national television audience on ESPN defeating Louisville (a game in which I attended), and then beating UCF in front of a record home crowd of approximately 20,000.

All of this this success for the Panthers has earned them some much deserved respect and exposure. ESPN gameday came down to FIU earlier this week to do a "miked up" piece on FIU Football Head Coach Mario Cristobal. I just watched the piece and as usual it was an "amped" Mario during practice, it was just a brief glimpse into what is an everyday intense atmosphere.

Early Predictions: FIU Picked To Win Sun Belt

Posted 7/18/2011 11:40:00 AM
Last season the Panthers won a share of their first ever conference title, advanced to their first ever bowl game and won it in dramatic fashion, but despite that, some are still predicting the Troy Trojans to win Sun Belt this season. I guess you can say that is understandable since Troy has practically owned and dominated the conference the past 5 seasons, but as they say "times are-a changing," thus the Preseason Coaches Polls says . . . .

Best Coach in Miami 2011 - FIU Head Coach Mario Cristobal

Posted 6/27/2011 6:30:00 AM
This may be a lil late, but as the cliche goes "better late then never!"
There was a short article written about FIU Football Head Coach Mario Cristobal in the Miami New Times.

Coach Cristobal is one of the hardest working coaches in Miami. He and his staff's hard work are slowly but surely being recognized by all.

Here is the link, it's a nice short read. I thought it was succinct and to the point. What do you think?

Former FIU Offensive Lineman Chases WWE Dream

Posted 6/6/2011 1:35:00 PM
I recently had the opportunity and the privilege to interview former FIU Golden Panther Offensive Lineman (2006-2009) and current "WWE Tough Enough Finalist,"  Andy Leavine.

A very talented and versatile athlete, Andy played several different postions along the offensive line during his career at FIU. At 6'5,"
and 292 lbs, Leavine was very quick and nimble for his size.

From football to wrestling, Andy is now chasing his dream of becoming a professional wresler. A former high school wrestler with an impressive record of over 90 wins, Andy is now competing in the finals of the "WWE Tough Enough Challenge" [on USA]. Monday night

Andy talks about his days at FIU, his experience on the show and more in this extensive interview.

Make sure you tune in on Monday night at 8 p.m. on USA. The winner will be anounced live.
