It's almost August, which means we are well over a month removed from the 2016-2017 NBA season's end, and yet, NBA news dominates the headlines. The NBA has mastered the off-season. The NBA has found a way to stay relevant all-year long, and not in the way that the NFL has done it by simply being a dominant sport. While the NFL runs as far away from off-season drama as it can, the NBA, or at least its players, runs towards it.

The latest drama this off-season involves Lebron James, as it has so many times. The most dominant player of this era is, largely, the reason that the NBA off-season has become the sub-tweeting he-said-he-said spectacle that it has become. Most recently, James' teammate, Kyrie Irving, a star in his own right, reportedly, no longer wants to play with James. Enter the calculated snapchat videos shot by both James and Irving that, seemingly, include songs pertaining to their dramatic situation, and the numerous leaks from inside both of their camps to the press. These are the things that we talk about to get us through an, otherwise, bleak month in sports.

As sports radio hosts, we love what the NBA off-season has become because it provides us content. As fans, we love the year-round discussion. And so, we want more of this from all of our sports - more competition, more headlines, more content, and more of this type of drama on and off the field. NFL, MLB, NHL, and MLS, listen up and take notes! The NBA is doing the off-season right.
